The EC Peiting is an ice hockey club from the Upper Bavarian market Peiting . The official club name is Eissportclub Peiting im Turn- und Sportverein eV

history

Long before TSV Peiting was founded, ice hockey was played in Peiting. On February 4, 1934, the first game of an ice hockey team took place against a selection from neighboring Lechbruck . Nevertheless, it was not until 1952 that the EC was founded in the Peiting gymnastics and sports club. The venue was initially a local outdoor pool, which was converted into an ice rink in winter, and later an ice rink or a public square. Comparisons with other teams were consistently friendly and after a four-year break - in 1960 ice sports in Peiting came to a short standstill - the community made a new sports facility available to the club.

On October 22, 1966, the structures for regular gaming were finally created by an organized ice sports club within the TSV. The first friendly match against TSV Hohenpeißenberg took place on January 11, 1967, and the following season saw the first participation in regional class 6 . Just one season later, they were promoted to the regional league and after the introduction of a single-track league, TSV moved up to the natural ice Bavarian league in 1970 . This season was also the last in the natural ice rink, as an artificial ice rink was built in December 1967 and was inaugurated on November 25, 1972. With the new venue, the team competed in the regional league for the first time . The first opponent in the artificial ice stadium was EV Landsberg , who got the upper hand with 3-2 against the Peitinger.

As a result of considerable restructuring in German ice hockey and a reformed league operation, the ice hockey department was outsourced to the EC in TSV Peiting in the summer of 1973, and games continued in 1973/74 in the now third-class Oberliga Süd . From 1974/75 with 1977/78 the EC Peiting took part in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga before one season of the game was suspended. Then the EC played from 1979/80 in the Oberliga Süd - except for the 1983/84 season, where the 2nd ice hockey league was again played - until the introduction of the German ice hockey league in 1994. When the league was redistributed, the EC peiting in the 1st League South , in which the team remained until 1997/98. When the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga was reintroduced for the 1998/99 season, the club was downgraded to the 2nd South League . From this league, the Upper Bavaria moved despite financial concerns in the Oberliga Süd 2000/01 and was there as a climber straight away fifth, which resulted in the playoff quarter-finals against the Crocodiles Hamburg . This success could be increased in 2002/03 by the team in the championship playoffs only in the semifinals against the eventual champions 1. EV Weiden lost 2-1 games. In the following years, the EC Peiting established itself in the league and was able to celebrate the greatest successes in recent club history with the finals and the runner-up championships in the seasons 2008/09 and 2009/10. The EC Peiting celebrated the championship of the Oberliga-Süd in the 2011/2012, 2012/13 and 2018/19 season.
