The Hannover Scorpions are an ice hockey club based in Mellendorf . The club was founded in Langenhagen in 2013 when the DEL Club Hannover Scorpions sold its DEL license to the Schwenninger Wild Wings . The team has played in the Oberliga Nord since it was founded .

After the sale of the Hannover Scorpions DEL license, Hannover Scorpions Eishallen- und Spielbetriebs GmbH was founded, which took over its right to participate in the Oberliga Nord from the SC Langenhagen club . After the championship of the Oberliga Nord was reached in 2013/14 , the team was not able to qualify for the promotion and relegation round of the DEL2 with 2nd place in their group behind EV Duisburg in the final round of the Oberliga Nord . In the 2014/15 season the team reached second place in the preliminary round of the Oberliga Nord in the Oberliga Nord play-offs again the championship title of the Oberliga Nord, where the team in the Oberliga play-offs in the quarter-finals against the team of the Icefighters Leipzig Eliminated with 1: 3. During this time, the Langenhagen ice rink with 1450 seats served as the venue .
At the beginning of March 2017 there was a merger with the ESC Wedemark Scorpions , the "reunited" team is operated by the newly founded Hannover Scorpions Ice Hockey GmbH, Wedemark was the home ground. The Hannover Scorpions were previously managed by Hannover Scorpions GmbH & Co. KG, the parent club was SC Langenhagen . The main people involved in the initiation and execution of the merger of the two neighboring Scorpions teams were Eric Haselbacher, Kay Uplegger, Jochen Haselbacher and Marco Stichnoth. Eric and Jochen Haselbacher took over the sporting and business management within the new GmbH.
