The hus de groot Eisarena (formerly also Eisstadion Mellendorf , Ice-House Mellendorf ) is an ice rink in the Mellendorf district of the municipality of Wedemark in the Hanover region . It has a capacity of 3500 seats, of which 3100 are standing and 400 are seats. The namesake and sponsor has been the construction company hus de groot from Mellendorf for two years since August 2017 .

It is the venue of the Wedemark-based ice hockey club Hannover Scorpions , whose predecessor of the same name has played in the DEL since 1996 , initially in this stadium, later also in the much larger TUI Arena in Hannover and became German champions in 2010. In 2013 the Scorpions broke up including the sale of the DEL license, re-founded or re-founded in the same year and have since played in the third-class Oberliga Nord. After an interlude in the Langenhagen ice rink and a "reunification" with the Wedemark Scorpions , they have been playing in Mellendorf again since 2017.

The parent club ESC Wedemark Scorpions eV also operates its club work in the youth and amateur area in the ice rink. In addition to ice hockey, ice skating, curling, courses and various entertainment events are also offered. The stadium is usually open from the beginning of September to the end of March. In the summer, the stadium is sometimes used free of charge for inline skating, and courses are also offered in this sport.

The stadium was built in 1974. In that year, the ice rink was built in the open air next to the outdoor pool in Mellendorf, followed in 1977 by the roof and the first grandstand for 1200 spectators. Another expansion took place in 1995, in which u. a. the west stand was built as a balcony. Since the last renovation, the stadium has a capacity of 3500 spectators (including 3100 standing and 400 seats). In addition to a large number of cabins, the area now also includes a garage for the ice machine, an office with an integrated ticket shop, a catering area and two VIP areas.
