Joseph "Peppi" Heiß (born June 13, 1963 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who was the head coach of the Eisbären Regensburg in the Oberliga Süd until January 2018 . His daughter Stella is a successful curler .

Career

As a player

He played from 1980 to 1986 with SC Riessersee and between 1986 and 1988 with Düsseldorfer EG . He then moved to the Kölner Haien in the summer of 1988 , with whom he won the German championship in 1995 . He stayed with the Haie until his retirement in 2001 . In total, he completed 972 first division games and 140 games for the German national team , with which he took part in nine world championships and three Olympic games .

As a sign of recognition for his achievements, the number 1 is no longer awarded at the KEC. His achievements in ice hockey were honored when he was accepted into the HHOF Germany .

As a trainer

In the 2008/09 season he was hired as the goalkeeping coach of the Augsburger Panther and the EHC Munich . From the 2009/10 season to 2012 he was an assistant coach at EHC Munich alongside Italian-Canadian Pat Cortina behind the gang. For the 2012/13 season he was hired by EC Peiting as head coach, but remained at the same time goalkeeping coach at EHC Munich. His contract with EC Peiting was extended for another year on December 30, 2012, but he was released early in January 2014. He is once again working as a goalkeeping coach at ERC Ingolstadt from the 2014/15 season to the 2016/17 season. In May 2017, he was hired as head coach of EV Regensburg for the upcoming season 2017/18 . In January 2018 he was released from the club.
