In the 2004/05 season, the ice hockey regional league was the fourth division in the leagues
- the Regionalliga NRW ,
- the Regionalliga Nord ,
- the Regionalliga Ost ,
- of the Regionalliga Hessen
- the Baden-Württemberg League and
- the Bayernliga
carried out.
Once again, the regional leagues determined two athletic climbers for each season (northeast / southwest) of the major league. The regional leagues North, North Rhine-Westphalia and East played a joint promoted team - the Regionalliga Hessen got a direct promotion place for the Northeast relay. The two climbers of the Southwest season shared the Bayern and Baden-Württemberg leagues.
Regionalliga North
The Regionalliga Nord was organized by the Lower Saxony State Ice Sports Association .
mode
The nine participants played in a simple round from the four participants for the promotion round of the northern regional leagues. The remaining teams had to go to the relegation round with the league clubs.
Attendees
The league has been increased to nine teams for this season. There was no relegation from the league.

In the relegation round, only the Crocodiles Hamburg were able to avoid relegation. The ESC Wedemark Scorpions Farmers rose. After the season, the three-time champions of the Regionalliga Nord EC Wilhelmshaven had to file for bankruptcy and started again in the Association League. In addition, the EHC Wolfsburg 1b team was withdrawn. For the coming season, the Regionalliga Nord was merged with the Regionalliga Ost - all the athletically and economically qualified teams of the Regionalliga Nord were allowed to compete there.
Regionalliga North Rhine-Westphalia
The State Ice Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia organized the Regionalliga NRW.

The eight participating clubs played four participants in a double round in the final round of the regional leagues in the north. The remaining teams played with the teams of the association league for relegation or promotion.

Only EJ Dorsten failed to stay in the league. The EHC Solingen withdrew due to financial problems after the final round. Since the league was increased to twelve teams for the coming season, there were a large number of promoters with EV Duisburg 1b, Grafrath Nierspanther, ESV Bergisch Gladbach, Dinslakener Kobras, ESC Trier, TuS Wiehl and the Königsborner JEC.
Regional League East
mode
The seven participants played out four participants in the regional league finals in a single round. The teams from fifth place met the participants of the Sachsenliga in the relegation round.
Attendees
Due to the admission of the Blue Lions Leipzig and Eisbären Junios Berlin into the higher class Oberliga and the only climber BSchC Prussia, the league had to start this season with only seven teams. The Saaleteufel Halle had to file for bankruptcy after last season. However, the right to play could be absorbed by the establishment of the ESC Hall 04. The first team competed under the name "Saale Bulls".

In the relegation round, all four participants of the regional league were able to play out relegation. However, Tornado Niesky withdrew and the 1b team from Weißwasser did not use his right of promotion. All other teams were incorporated into the new Oberliga Nordost.
Final round of the regional leagues in the north
The final round for promotion was held in a single round. The champion of the promotion round takes part in the Oberliga 2005/06 .

The eight participants play the master and climber in a double round. The last placed descends in the fifth class Landesliga Hessen.

With sporty and economic withdrawals from the previous season there were three new climbers and the Red Devils Bad Nauheim came down from the 2nd division due to bankruptcy.

Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim were relegated to the top league. The rivals of the Ice Devils Bad Nauheim are relegated without a chance. After the season, ESV Bitburg and ERC Ludwigshafen no longer reported their teams for the Regionalliga Hessen. Eintracht Frankfurt and Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim 1b came back as promoters. The league will start next season with only six teams.
Baden-Württemberg League

The participating teams played the champions and promoted teams in a single round. There was no athletic relegation. The league was increased to eleven teams, so Kornwestheim Kodiaks, the Stuttgart EC 1b, the EV Ravensburg 1b and the Schwenninger Fire Wings were new. The league first played in 3-point mode.

The SC Bietigheim 1b waived the promotion. There was also no team and the league remained without promoted to the league. For the coming season, the Stuttgart EC 1b no longer competed in the league, ESV Hügelsheim came back to the regional league from the Oberliga.
Bayern League
The Bavarian League was organized by the Bavarian Ice Sports Association.
mode
The 16 teams played the participants in the playoffs and playdowns. After a single round, the best eight reached the playoffs for the championship and the associated promotion, while the remaining eight played off the relegated to the Bavarian State League . The points were distributed according to the two-point rule.

The EV Landsberg 2000 has thus finally been promoted to the top league after participating in the third finals in a row.

The EV Dingolfing withdrew its team before the start of the playdowns and was therefore the first relegated team. In the second round, only one more relegated team had to be determined.
