The ice hockey regional league 2001/02 , the fourth highest division in German ice hockey, was organized, as in the previous season, on the one hand in southern Germany as the Regionalliga Süd by the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB), and on the other hand in northern Germany the regional league North Rhine-Westphalia and the regional league North East by the relevant regional associations, which played a joint championship at the end of the season.

In the final of the Regionalliga Süd, EHC Klostersee prevailed against EV Ravensburg . The final in the north was won by KEV Hannover , which had already won the Regionalliga Nord / Ost, against EC Timmendorfer Strand . The winner of the Regionalliga NRW, Grefrather EC , was fourth in the North Play-Offs.

For the 2002/03 season , the Regionalliga Süd was dissolved, and all participants moved up to the Oberliga Süd.
