Matthias Tamm

Matthias Tamm (born February 12, 1967 in Berlin ) is a German chemist and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1985, Tamm began studying at the Technical University of Berlin in 1986, graduating in 1990 with a diploma. In 1992 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. is doing his doctorate on the synthesis and coordination chemistry of polyisocyanides.

As a postdoc , he was a visiting researcher in research and development at DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware , from 1993/1994 . On his return, Tamm began his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin, which he continued from 1998 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , where he had followed his doctoral supervisor.

In 1999 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on transition metal complexes with dipolar cycloheptatrienyl ligands . His appointment as a private lecturer followed in 2001 as a university lecturer.

From 2002 onwards, Tamm represented Wolfgang A. Herrmann's chair for inorganic chemistry at the Technical University of Munich until he was appointed to a W3 professorship for inorganic and analytical chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 2005 . In 2009, he turned down the offer of a W3 professorship for inorganic chemistry at the Free University of Berlin .

He is married and has four kids.
