The ice hockey regional league 1993/94 was played out in the form of a group south and a group north .
Regionalliga North
Attendees
The ASV Hamm , the ERC Westfalen Dortmund 90 , of Neuss EC and the EHC Neuwied had risen in the league. TuS Wiehl and FASS Berlin were relegated to the national leagues . Newcomers from the national leagues were EC Dorsten, EV Duisburg, EC Eschweiler, Limburger EG, EC Nordhorn and Hamburger SV. The Aachen EC withdrew voluntarily to the NRW League. The EC Duisburg transferred after the Oberliga ESC Wolfsburg had gone bankrupt, his license to Wolfsburg and started there as EC Duisburg in Wolfsburg , later only EC Wolfsburg.

The participants in places 1 to 8, after the withdrawal of the Berlin ice-skating club from the Oberliga also the ninth, qualified for the relegation to the Oberliga Nord . The other participants played the qualification for the Regionalliga Nord 1994/95 with teams from the national leagues.

Qualification for Regionalliga Nord
Attendees
Hamburger SV waived the relegation and played in the championship round of the Association League North-East. In addition to the remaining four regional leagues, the following took part:

Following season
In the following season the Regionalliga Nord was replaced by the 2nd League North. Dinslaken and Aachen, like EC Dorsten, did not participate in the 2nd Northern League. Limburg and Zweibrücken as well as Bitburg as promoted players took part in the 2nd Northern League.

The EHC Freiburg was classified in the regional league after the license withdrawal in the Bundesliga.

The 18 teams were divided into six regional preliminary round groups (18 games). The first two in each group qualified for the championship round, the teams ranked 3 and 4 for the qualifying round, and the last two for the placement round (10 games). The championship round played the champions of the Regionalliga Süd and participants in the regional league finals. All participants in the championship round and the first two of the qualifying round qualified for relegation to the Oberliga Süd . The remaining ten teams played with the champions of the Sachsenliga, the first two of the Baden-Württembergliga and the best seven of the Bayernliga relegation to the Regionalliga Süd in four groups (8 games).
