ERC Haßfurt until 2004

The ice and roller sports club Haßfurt was founded in 1983. The club's men's ice hockey team took part in qualifying for the regional league for the first time in 1991 , but only made it to the fourth division the following year. At the end of the 1992/93 season , the ERC rose again from the Regionalliga to the Bayernliga .

In the summer of 1995 ERC Haßfurt replaced Wanderers Germering from the Bayern League into the third-class 2nd League South , who had not been promoted for financial reasons . In 1998, the association was with the reintroduction of the second ice hockey league divided into the first league in 1999 again the old name Oberliga got. In this, the ERC was often behind, but was able to avoid relegation. Only once did the Sharks reach the playoff semi-finals when they failed 2-0 at the Dresdner Eislöwen in the 2002/03 season .

After the insolvency petition for the club had to be filed in early November 2004 , the Haßfurt Sharks started playing in the Oberliga Süd 2004/05 on November 18, 2004, and after the rejection of the bankruptcy proceedings by the Bamberg District Court on December 10, 2004 also for the amateur - and junior teams hired.

ESC Haßfurt from 2004

As a successor, the ESC Haßfurt (Eissportclub Haßfurt eV) was founded on December 22nd, 2004 and started playing with the 2005/06 season. The men's team Haßfurt Hawks took part in the sixth class Bavarian regional league. The ESC was able to achieve the planned season goal of promotion with the 2nd place in the group north, thanks to the withdrawal of the TuS Geretsried team from the Bavarian ice hockey league and the advancement of the ERV Schweinfurt to the Bayern league.

In the 2006/07 season, the Haßfurt Hawks reached the state league Bayern Nord, as a promoted second place in the table. In the subsequent round of promotion to the Bayern League, the team only had to admit defeat to Wanderers Germering. In the following 2007/08 season, as well as in the 2009/10 season, the ESC Hassfurt also took second place after the main round. Otherwise, the team was always involved in the fight for the promotion rounds and was always in the top half of the table.

In the following seasons, the Hawks failed several times just about promotion to the Bayern League. This came about unexpectedly in the 2012/13 season. Due to the fact that the first placed EV Dingolfing refused to move up , the Hawks moved up into the promotion round as third. Here ESC Haßfurt defeated the table runner-up of the Landesliga Süd / West in the semifinals, EA Schongau after a 5-7 first leg defeat in front of their own audience 5-2 and thus rose to the Bayernliga for the first time in the club's history. In the final they met fellow promoted Mitterteich, where Haßfurt also had the upper hand and thus ended the season as "promotion round champion".

In the following season it became clear early on that, despite the increased squad, you couldn't keep up in the Bayernliga. So after the main round with nine points, the 16th and last place was recorded. Accordingly, the hoped-for audience response did not materialize. Despite improved performance in the relegation round, the return to the regional league North / East could not be averted after only one year.

For the 2014/15 season, many top performers from the Bayern league season left the club. A new beginning should be dared, especially with players from the region. Also due to numerous long-term injuries, the Hawks often paid empty money in the heavily occupied national league, especially in the first half of the season, and quickly found themselves in the relegation battle. The season ended in tenth place (out of 14) with twelve points ahead of the relegation ranks. With the withdrawal of ERV Schweinfurt from the Oberliga Süd and the grouping into the state league, point games against their arch rivals were due again in the 2014/15 season for the first time in ten years. Despite the significantly better standings of the Schweinfurt "Mighty Dogs", Haßfurt was able to win both prestige duels.
