The TSVE Bielefeld (officially: Turn- und Sportverein Einigkeit 1890 Bielefeld eV ) is a sports club from Bielefeld . The club has over 4,000 members in 19 departments, making it the city's second largest sports club after Arminia Bielefeld . After the Bielefelder TG and the Gadderbaumer TV , the TSVE is also the third oldest sports club in the city.
The men's basketball team played in the third-class ProB for one year , while the women's team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North for five years . The TSVE Bielefeld is also the organizer of the Hermannslauf and co-organizer of the Run & Roll Day .
history
The oldest parent club is the gymnastics club Eintracht , founded in 1890 , a year later the gymnastics club Jahn and in 1893 the gymnastics club Einigkeit and in 1894 the Bielefelder gymnastics club . In 1904 the gymnastics club Eintracht and the Bielefelder gymnastics club merged to form the Eintracht gymnastics club in 1890 . In 1919 the Eintracht 1890 gymnastics club merged with the Jahn gymnastics club to form TSV 1890 Bielefeld . This merged a year later with the Bielefelder SC Eintracht to Tuspo 1890 Bielefeld . As part of the clean divorce , this merger disintegrated again in 1924. The Bielefelder SC Eintracht, which should not be confused with the TuS Eintracht Bielefeld , first became the Bielefelder SpVgg , the SpVgg Fichte Bielefeld and finally the VfB Fichte Bielefeld after several mergers . Finally, in 1980 the TV unity merged with TSV 1890 Bielefeld to today's TSVE 1890 Bielefeld. The association's office is located on Siegfriedplatz .

The TSVE basketball team is known by the nickname TSVE Dolphins . In 2007 the Dolphins were one of the founding members of the newly created ProB. With six wins and 24 defeats in the debut season , the team rose from bottom of the table. Today the Dolphins compete in the 1st regional league. With Robert Huelsewede , the club produced a second division player who played for the Cuxhaven BasCats and the Central German BC . Conversely, Maik Mertens, a former Bundesliga player for EWE Baskets Oldenburg, later played for TSVE. The women of the TSVE, also known as Lady Dolphins , are more successful . Between 2008 and 2013 the team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North. The greatest success was the sixth place in the 2010/11 season. The Lady Dolphins cooperate with the Paderborn Baskets . Home arenas of the TSVE basketball players are the sports halls of the Carl Severing School and the Helmholtz Gymnasium .

The ice hockey team of the TSVE Bielefeld, also known by the nickname Crocodiles , had its most successful period in the early 1990s. In 1994 the Crocodiles, reinforced by some players from the Herford EG , were runner-up in the fifth-class NRW league behind the Aachen EC . This qualified the team for the qualifying round for the Regionalliga Nord . Although athletically qualified, the club renounced promotion and slipped in the following years into the lowest division, the district league.
In 2001 the Crocodiles were runner-up in the district league behind local rivals SV Brackwede 1b and rose to the state league. After only one year, the direct relegation followed. The sporting low points were the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons, when the Bielefeld team remained without a point. In the 2013/14 season, the Crocodiles were runner-up in the district league behind EHC Netphen 08 . Two years later, the team secured the district league championship with two final wins over the Aachen EC , but renounced promotion.
From the 2014/15 season, in addition to the men's team, a women's ice hockey team also took part in the game under the umbrella of the TSVE . In 2016, the women's team of the TSVE became district league champions and rose to the state league.
The home ground of the Crocodiles was the inner-city Deliuse ice rink for many years . After the demolition in 2003, the Oetker ice rink in the Brackwede district is the home ground of the TSVE. The Oetker ice rink is completely covered, but open on all sides. There are no seats. The Crocodiles share the venue with SV Brackwede.

The TSVE Bielefeld is the organizer of the Hermannslauf. With 7,000 participants per year, the run is one of the largest running events in Germany and was first held in 1971. The route runs from the Hermannsdenkmal near Detmold over 31.1 kilometers to Bielefelder Sparrenburg . Since 2004 the TSVE has organized the Stadtwerke Run & Roll Day together with Bielefeld-Marketing GmbH . The Ostwestfalendamm city motorway in Bielefeld will be released for runners, skaters, walkers and wheelchair users and blocked for all other vehicles.
Amanal Petros was German runner-up in the 10-kilometer road race in 2014 . A year later, Petros was third in the 5000 meter run .
