The Gadderbaumer TV (officially: Gadderbaumer Turnverein von 1878 eV Bielefeld ; short: GTB ) is a sports club from the Bielefeld district of Gadderbaum .

history

The club was founded on June 6, 1878, making it the second oldest sports club in the city after the Bielefelder TG . It has about 1,000 members and the club colors are purple and white. In addition to handball and bounce ball , the club also offers basketball , gymnastics , Nordic walking , cycling , sports and games , dancing , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics , volleyball , preschool sports and hiking .

Bounce ball

The men's team at Gadderbaumer TV has played in the Bundesliga since 1988. In 1996 the GTB men finished third and won the championship three years later. In 2005 the team was relegated from the Bundesliga. The women's team at Gadderbaumer TV played in the Bundesliga until 2014 . In the senior sector, Gadderbaumer TV was able to win numerous German championship titles. In the age group women 30 , the GTB became champions in 1973 and 1977. In the women 40 age group , the club won the title three times in a row from 1985 to 1987. The men in the men's 60 age group became German champions in 2002.

Handball

The handball department of Gadderbaumer TV qualified in 1936 for the promotion round to Gauliga Westfalen . There, however, the team took last place. After the end of the Second World War, the Gadderbaumer reached the finals for the Westphalia indoor handball championship in the 1951/52 season . There the team achieved third place behind SV Westerholt and TSG Herdecke . In the following years, the Gadderbaumer handball players did not get beyond the association league. In 1993, Gadderbaumer TV entered a syndicate with TuS Eintracht Bielefeld under the name HSG Eintracht Gadderbaum . In 2009, the handball players of SV Brackwede joined the syndicate, which was then renamed HSG EGB Bielefeld .
