The ice rink is located in the southwestern part of Brackwede on Duisburger Strasse. The AquaWede indoor swimming pool is located north of the stadium . The originally open ice rink was later given a tent roof, but is still open on all four sides. There are safety nets over the gangs. There are no grandstands. It is named after the Bielefeld Oetker Group . The ice rink is usually open between October and March and is operated by BBF Bielefelder Bäder und Freizeiteinrichtungen GmbH , a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Bielefeld .

The ice rink was opened in 1977. First, the ice hockey department of SV Brackwede used the ice rink. The women's team played in the 1992/93 season in the Bundesliga and from 2002 to 2013, the 2. Bundesliga North, while the men's team for several years played in the fourth division regional league. In 1999, the changed figure skating department of Arminia Bielefeld to the Oetker ice rink . In addition to competitions, the department holds its traditional winter party on the ice . In 2003 the ice hockey team from TSVE Bielefeld also moved into the Oetker ice rink, as the previously used inner-city Delius ice rink was demolished.
