Robert Sean Huelsewede (born April 19, 1990 in Bielefeld , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German basketball player. After initially being active with the first division team Paderborn Baskets until 2010 , he first played a season at the second division Cuxhaven BasCats in the ProA and in the ProA 2011/12 with the first division relegated Mitteldeutscher BC, who reached the ProA championship in 2012 and immediately rose again.

life and career

Huelsewede grew up in Bielefeld and attended grammar school there . He started his basketball career at TSVE Bielefeld . At the age of 14 he moved to the Paderborn Baskets, played in the U16 and came third with the U18 at the German championships. He was part of the U16 and U18 squad of the German national team and was the fifth-best scorer of the tournament at the U16 European Championship in Spain in 2006 with an average of 16.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He then played for three years in the youth basketball league (NBBL) and as a double licensed player in the ProB 2007/08 for his home club TSVE Dolphins, who had to leave the third-highest division after one season as relegated. In his first season in the NBBL Hülsewede averaged 14.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, in his second season 13.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2 steals per game on average and in last season 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.8 steals per game. In 2008 Hülsewede missed the U18 European Championship in Greece due to a metatarsal fracture. In his last NBBL season in 2008/09, the Paderborn Top Four tournament defeated the only title winner and two-time champions Team ALBA Urspring in the semifinals and had to admit defeat to the youngsters from Alba Berlin in the final. In his third year in the NBBL, Huelsewede was invited to the All-Star Game in Mannheim due to his achievements , which was held as part of the supporting program of the BBL Allstar Day .

After Huelsewede was previously a training player in the first division team of the Paderborn Baskets, he was in their squad in the 2009/10 season , but was only used in about half of the games with less than ten minutes playing time per game. After the Paderborn's relegation, he moved to the second division BasCats from Cuxhaven , the cooperation partner of the first division Eisbären Bremerhaven . For the Eisbären, other former managers from Paderborn, who had meanwhile moved to Bremerhaven, were also active in the form of junior coordinator Hamed Attarbashi and head coach Douglas Spradley . At the BasCats Huelsewede was able to increase his playing time to just under 20 minutes and for the ProA 2011/12 he was committed by the first division relegated and league competitor MBC from Weißenfels . The ambitious club managed to return to the first division at the end of the season. Huelsewede himself was no longer used in the team than in his first division season in Paderborn.

For the 2012/2013 season Huelsewede moved to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and signed a contract with the White Wings Hanau . There he hoped for more play: He played 13 games during the season before he was out due to injury.

From 2014 he played for the Westfalen Mustangs club.
