The home venue is the Berchtesgaden ice rink. In the past, the first team of EV Berchtesgaden took part in the fourth-highest division in Germany for several years.

history

A predecessor club, the Berchtesgaden Ice Club, had existed since at least 1885 . This became inactive in the years before the First World War .

The beginnings

The ice skating club Berchtesgaden was founded on October 3rd, 1922. In addition to figure skating and ice stock sport, ice hockey was played in the newly founded club. The head of the ice hockey players was the doctor Hugo Beck, who played for the most successful German ice hockey club, the Berlin ice skating club , during his studies . The game was partly played on the Aschauerweiher, partly on the local ice rinks set up by the club. In 1926 , the EVB hosted the southern Bavarian championship and lost to the reigning German runner-up SC Riessersee with 0:13 and the Munich EV with 0: 7.

From 1934 to 1937 the EV Berchtesgaden came second in the second highest division in Bavaria four times in a row (B-class, 1937 district class). In 1939 the game had to be stopped due to the Second World War .

After the Second World War on natural ice

In 1946 the association was re-established. In 1955 the ice hockey team rose from the district class to the national league . In 1968 he was promoted to the Bayern League . 1970/71 they played in the now separate natural ice Bayern League, from which they were relegated to the state league at the end of the season.

On artificial ice since 1974

The game operation was switched to an artificial ice rink. 1974 succeeded for the first time the jump into the fourth class regional league , which the EVB had to leave again after one season. From 1976 to 1985 the Bavarian League was played until, from the 1984/85 season , fourth-rate ice hockey could be seen again in Berchtesgaden for two years. Then it went on again in the state league, in which the state league championship in Group III was won in 1988 . By winning the "Bavarian State League Championship" in 1992 , it went back up to the Bavarian League. In the period 1994/95 to 1995/96 they took part in the fourth-class Bavarian Ice Hockey League. This was followed by a new start in the Bavarian ice hockey district league, which is still played today.
