The Dinslaken EC 2009 "Kobras" is an ice hockey club from Dinslaken , whose first team plays in the Regionalliga West .

history

Dinslakener EC

The history of ice hockey in Dinslaken began in 1982 when the Dinslaken ice hockey club was founded. The club initially started in the North Rhine-Westphalia regional league. In 1984 he rose to the regional league and marched through in the first season in the Oberliga-Nord . After a second place in the main round, the team took first place in the subsequent qualification for the Oberliga-Nord. One season later, the team surprisingly placed third, level on points with Hamburger SV . This was the first time that the team played for promotion to the 2nd division north. In the qualification for the 2nd division north , the club landed on the sixth and penultimate place. In the next four years, the Dinslaken played in the top league. Before the 1990/91 season , the club then stopped playing.

Dinslakener EC 1990

Shortly thereafter, a successor association was founded, which was named Dinslakener EC 1990. The club played mostly in the Regionalliga Nord and had to stop playing again nine years after it was founded.

Dinslakener EV

In the summer of 1999, the Dinslakener EV started playing. Due to the new division of the LEV NRW, the newly founded club was allowed to start immediately in the highest German amateur class, the fourth-class Regionalliga NRW. There they finished tenth after the main round. One season the DEV was placed in seventh place and was thus able to improve compared to the previous season. The league was achieved in the subsequent relegation, in which third place was achieved. The 2001/02 season was the last of the club founded three years earlier. During the current season, those responsible stopped the game.

EC Dinslaken Cobras

Then the EC Dinslaken Kobras was founded. After its founding, the club first had to start in the fifth-class state league of North Rhine-Westphalia. The rise in the association league succeeded only in the second season of the club. The 2004/05 season should be one of the most positive in recent Dinslaken ice hockey history. After a sixth place in the main round, the team reached the cup round and missed promotion. Nevertheless, one was allowed to move up to the Regionalliga-NRW and thus returned to the highest German amateur class in 2005 for the first time in three years. The first season in the new league was far more difficult than expected. So the goal of relegation could be achieved with a fifth place in the regional league cup. The 2007/08 season was the most successful of the EC Dinslaken Kobras. After the main round, the Kobras ranked second behind the EHC Dortmund . In the subsequent promotion round, the club reached fifth place and missed the play-off semi-finals with just one point behind fourth place. During the 2008/09 season there were again financial problems with the Dinslaken Kobras. As a result, several top performers were given up in the summer of 2009 and the team squad was greatly rejuvenated. Nevertheless, the bankruptcy could not be prevented, at the end of November the association filed for bankruptcy.

Dinslakener EC 2009 Cobras

At the same time, the successor club Dinslakener EC 2009 Kobras was founded, which also took over the ongoing game operations in the Regionalliga West. After the season they withdrew to the NRW League. Since the 2011/12 season they have been playing in the Regionalliga West, which has been known as the 1st League West since the 2015/16 season. Since 2010 there has been a cooperation between DEC Kobras and the ERV Dinslaken Kobras youth club .
