The EC Lünen 89 was an ice hockey club from Lünen .

history

The association was founded in 1989 by a group of friends around Bernd Meckeler. The club started in the state league and promptly rose to the NRW league. There the Lüner 1991 champions in front of the equal points SV Brackwede and rose to the Regionalliga West . There the team missed relegation in 1992, as the previous five regional leagues were made two and the EC Lünen missed the appropriate qualification. In 1995 the Lüner were again runner-up in the NRW League, this time behind the Herford EC . In the following qualifying round for the 2nd League North, the promotion was missed athletically, but after various retreats, the Lüner advanced to the third highest division.

There the team had no chance, ended the season bottom of the table and was relegated back to the NRW League. From 1997 to 1999, the Lüner played in the Regionalliga West and were then relegated to the State League. After the 2005/06 season, the club stopped playing and announced a year later from the State Ice Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia . At the same time, EC Lünen 89, which played its home games in the Bergkamen- Weddinghofen ice rink , was dissolved. ESV Grizzlies Bergkamen is the successor club .
