Thomas Franta (born July 1, 1977 ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who was last active for the EHC Dortmund .

Career

Franta began his career in 1995 with the EC Devils Königsborn , with whom he played in the third highest German division, the 2nd League North. In his first season he was able to move up with the Devils in the 1st League North , the second highest division at the time. The trained goalkeeper was not the regular goalkeeper and therefore only played three league games. As a climber he could not keep the class with his team and was relegated to the 2nd division north. Franta played in seven games and conceded an average of eleven goals. As a result, he joined the EC Lünen '89 , which was then playing in the Regionalliga.

In the following years he changed clubs several times and played, among others, for the EHC Dortmund, for the Herford EC in the league, as well as for the then regional league club ESC Hamm . In summer 2003 he returned to the EHC Dortmund. After he was the goalkeeper of the previous teams, this time he only took on the back-up role and accordingly only made three appearances. After the season he left the EHC and signed a contract with league competitor EJ Dorsten . This was followed by another two-year engagement with the Elchen from Dortmund and a short interlude at EHC Gelsenkirchen , before he returned to Dortmund for the 2008/09 season .
