Teal Fowler (born December 11, 1970 in Batavia , New York ) is a retired American ice hockey player . Until December 2017 he was the sports manager of the Adlers Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
From 1989 to 1993 he played ice hockey at Merrimack College. In 1995 he moved to Germany, where Eschweiler was his first stop. The then second division EHC Dortmund discovered him quickly . The striker began the 1996/97 season in Dortmund. Shortly afterwards he switched to the Königsborner EC , before he went to the Iserlohner EC , he played for half a season at EC Lünen 89 . After this half there were four more seasons in Iserlohn, where he became a crowd favorite because of his robust and combative style of play (279 penalty minutes in 61 games in the 1997/98 season ). After Iserlohn's first DEL season in 2000/01 , he had to end his career due to an injury. But the Roosters remained Fowler as an assistant coach up to and including the 2004/05 season .
In the 2005/06 season he stood behind the gang for the first time as head coach in Krefeld.
On January 15, 2006, he announced that he would make use of his right to terminate the Krefeld Penguins and leave them at the end of the season. He then signed a two-year contract as assistant coach with the Adler Mannheim , which became German champions in the 2006/07 season . Also in the 2008/09 season he is behind the gang with the eagles. Since 2009 Fowler is also active in the coaching team of the German national team . After the Adler separated from their previous head coach Dave King in February 2009 , Fowler took over sole responsibility for training the Adler. In early April 2009, the Adler announced that Teal Fowler would go back to his old job as an assistant coach. Doug Mason became the new head coach . After his release in January 2010, Fowler was again appointed head coach until the end of the season. He was then appointed sports manager of the club.
On December 4, 2017, those responsible at Adler Mannheim announced the separation from Fowler and head coach Sean Simpson and his assistant Colin Muller . As a reason, Adler's managing director Daniel Hopp gave : "After the disappointing appearances and the most recent results, we feel obliged to make a fresh start in the field of sports management."
