Herbert Knebel's Affentheater is a cabaret group founded by Uwe Lyko alias Herbert Knebel and others , which has already had over 1000 stage appearances in Germany .

Initially the line- up changed (including Susanne “die Popette” Betancor , with whom Knebel later appeared in the “RuhrRevue”); only gradually did the four-man formation from Uwe Lyko (Herbert Knebel, vocals / guitar), Martin Breuer (Ernst Pichl, bass), Detlef Hinze (the trainer, drums) and Sigi Domke (guitar) emerge.

Herbert Knebel's Affentheater was founded in 1988 and presented the first play in the same year. In 1990 the second program "We present you one" followed. Founding member Sigi Domke left the group the following year, replacing him with Georg Göbel-Jakobi alias Ozzy Ostermann, and the premiere of “Lecko Pfanni” followed.

The fifth program "Getz aber in Echt" followed three years later. In 1995 the group signed a record deal with Sony Music . The already released CD "Getz aber in Echt" appeared again under the new label. The sixth program “There are wa already again” came out in 1996, as did the second CD under the same title. In 1998 the seventh program "Knebel on the Rocks" with a third CD (identical title) premiered. In 2001 Herbert Knebel's Affentheater celebrated the premiere of the eighth stage program "Unter Strom".

The premieres of the tenth program “Nix wie weg” and the eleventh “Love is in sie Er” followed in December 2005 and in autumn 2008. From 2014, they toured with the program “Men without Nerves”.
