The number of members has since fallen to 2,800.
Ice Hockey Department
In the 1959/1960 season, the ice sports division was founded in the SVG, from which the ice hockey department was spun off as an independent department in 1972.
Ice rink
The ice rink, called the Celtic Hall, was built in 1971 as an open ice rink and in 1978 it was roofed over and provided with a grandstand, with the architect Julius Natterer responsible for the roof construction. On August 11, 2009, the operation of the hall for the 2009/10 season was approved by the Burgkirchen municipal council - but with a strict budget. In July 2010 the municipal council of Burgkirchen passed the fundamental decision for the privatization of the ice rink, which is to be converted by a private investor into a multifunctional hall with an artificial ice rink not approved for league games as early as the 2010/11 season. This attempt failed. At the end of November 2011, the hall was transferred back to the Burgkirchen community. The hall has currently been used as a training center for fire departments since 2016.
history
