Manfred Zieglgruber (born August 19, 1947 in Untersteukirchen ; † May 25, 2014 in Altötting ) was a German ice stock athlete and world record holder in the distance competition.

career

Zieglgruber, a trained locksmith, was active in the Upper Bavarian club SV Unterneukirchen . His great specialty was long-range shooting on ice, so he won the German championship in this competition in 1969, 1971, 1973 and 1974. His greatest successes, however, were the two title wins at the European Ice Stock Championships in 1974 in Graz and 1975 in the Yugoslavian Kranjska Gora , also in long-distance shooting. At the age of 16, Zieglgruber was one of the co-founders of SV Unterneukirchen in 1963.

An Austrian newspaper gave him the nickname Kraftlackl , after which a long-distance shooting competition was later named, which Zieglgruber won several times.

On December 9, 1989, Zieglgruber set the world record in long distance shooting, which is still valid today, in a competition on Lake Seeon . He reached a distance of 566.53 m on ice, with an outside temperature of around minus four degrees Celsius . With 553.02 m the Bavarian Konrad Freiwang is in second place on the list of the best in the distance competition. This distance was also achieved on December 9, 1989 at Seeoner See.

Manfred Zieglgruber died on May 25, 2014, most recently as long-distance shooting warden, department head and youth representative in his home club SV Unterneukirchen.
