The Hockey in Bitburg in Rhineland-Palatinate is known mainly by the ESV Bitburg, in the 1994-95 season played in the third-rate second League North. In the 2019/20 season, the Eifel-Mosel Bears from Bitburg will play in the Hessen League , with the Bears seeing themselves as a team from Bitburg and Trier .

The ESV Bitburg was founded 1978th He played in the Rhineland-Palatinate League since 1984. In 1994 you could win the league and took part in the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord , where you finished 5th out of eight teams. This qualified for what is now called the 2nd League North. The preliminary round of the 1994/95 season ended in last place, in the qualifying round, however, you could keep the class, but withdrew before the start of the season.

As EV Bitburg, they started in the Rhineland-Palatinate regional league in 2000. From 2001/02 one played in the Landesliga Rheinland-Pfalz (the league changed the name several times). In the 2004/05 season they took part in the Regionalliga Hessen (fourth highest division). It finished 5th out of eight teams. After the season they withdrew to the national league.

2006 to 2008 they took part in the Landesliga Hessen, 2008/09 in the Landesliga NRW, where they were champions in all three seasons. From 2010 to 2012 they won the Rhineland-Palatinate Championship.

In 2014 the Bitburger ESV was founded, whose teams compete under the name Eifel-Mosel Bären , which see themselves as joint teams from Bitburg and Trier after the ice rink in Trier was closed in 2009. From 2014 to 2016 the bears were able to win the Rhineland-Palatinate Championship three times in a row. Since 2016 they have been playing in the Hessenliga and partly in parallel in the Rhineland-Palatinate League.

Stadion

The ice rink Bitburg on Bitburger Südring has a capacity of 1000 spectators. It was opened in 1982.

In addition to the Eifel-Mosel Bears, it also serves as the home stadium for the ESC Plätt Devils Trier.
