The GSC Moers (Grafschafter Schlittschuh Clubs Moers eV) is an ice hockey and figure skating club from Moers , North Rhine-Westphalia . It was founded in the late 1970s. The club's home games are played in the Moers ice rink, which can hold 500 spectators .

history

GSC Moers was founded in 1980 as the successor to GSV Moers , which participated in the Regional League from 1975 to 1978 and in the Oberliga from 1978 to 1980 . The GSC Moers replaced the GSV in the major league and stayed in this division until 1983.

In the 1990/91 season , the club returned to the league, but lost 29 of the 32 season games. Shortly before the beginning of the following season, the first team of GSC Moers was withdrawn from the game due to financial problems.

In 2004, the club's first team was outsourced to a game operating company and from then on played in the regional league under the name Black Devils Niederrhein. In 2006 the company ceased operations and from then on the team played again under the umbrella of GSC Moers in the regional league. At the end of the season, the club was relegated from this division, but could remain in the league as a successor. In 2008, he was relegated to the NRW Association League.

The first team has played in the NRW League since 2010.

In addition to the first team, the club includes a large number of children's, junior and hobby teams.

Women's team

From 1982 there was a department for women's ice hockey under the umbrella of GSC Moers . Initially, the team took part in the North Rhine-Westphalia League, but at the end of the 1980s they made it to the Bundesliga North . In 1991 he was relegated to the regional league. 2001 succeeded the promotion to the 2nd division north, before the women's team ran between 2003 and 2005 in the Bundesliga north. After that, the women's team was stopped.
