Personalities

Men's soccer

In the 1949/50 season, the first men's team played one season in the then third-class amateur league Niederrhein . The team scored 14th in Season 1 and was relegated. From 1962 to 1972 the GSV played in the Landesliga Niederrhein, the fourth highest German division at the time.

In the 2006/07 season, the first team of the GSV made it to the Association League Niederrhein . On the last day of the season, promotion was achieved with a win at Duisburger SV 1900 . In the 2007/08 season, the first men's team under coach Horst Riege was 16th with only 19 points and thus bottom of the league table. Thus, after being promoted last year, the team was relegated and has since played in the Lower Rhine regional league again . For the 2012/13 season, GSV Moers moved into the newly built space on Solimare. Coach Werner Wildhagen announced his departure at the end of this season (5th place); for the 2013/14 season he was succeeded by Erdem Onat and Andreas Voss as dual leaders. After a major upheaval in the squad, the former GSV striker Hrvoje Vlaovic took over the coaching position of the first team in the 2014/15 season, which was relegated to the district league at the end of the season.

Sports facility

The Grafschafter Kampfbahn was the stadium of the GSV Moers from 1950 to 2012

In the council meeting of the Moers City Council on October 1st 2010 it was finally decided that the MTV and the GSV Moers should get a new sports facility built together in the Filder Benden. 4.75 million euros were invested in the "relocation of the sports facilities from the GSV and MTV". Of this, 1.65 million euros came from the economic stimulus package II, the rest from the budget of the city of Moers. Since 2012, gaming operations have been gradually shifted to the large sports facility in Filder Benden , which was completely completed in 2014. Before that, the Grafschafter Kampfbahn , which was inaugurated by GSV Moers on June 18, 1950, was the club's stadium.
