history

The club was founded in 1998 by students from the German Sport University Cologne . The first sporting home was an ash place on Carl-Diem-Weg. From 2004, the Telekom Post sports facility in the Bocklemünd district was used for a few years before Vorwärts Spoho finally used the north fields on Walter-Binder-Weg. According to their own information, 80 percent of the club's members are students or graduates of the sports university.

Women

After the club had problems attracting enough players in the early years, the team was promoted to the national league in 2003. Two years later he was promoted to the Middle Rhine League, which, however, was followed by direct relegation. Already in the following season 2008/09 the promotion succeeded. The newly founded second women's team made it to the district league in the first season (2010/11). In the coming season, he was again promoted to the national league. Back in the Middle Rhine League, the first women's team was runner-up in 2012 and 2013, behind Fortuna Cologne and the second team of 1. FC Cologne . Finally, the first women's team became champions in 2015 and rose to the regional league. In season 2016/17 the descent followed, but the Cologne city could by a 2: 1 win the Middle Rhine Cup victory over Fortuna Cologne. Vorwärts Spoho qualified for the DFB Women's Cup for the first time. There the team lost in the first round against the second division club 1. FFC 08 Niederkirchen with 1: 3. This was followed by a direct rise and third place in the 2018/19 regional league season .

The second women's team made it to the Middle Rhine League in the 2016/17 season. A third women's team entered the race for the 2017/18 season.

Men

The men's team made it to the district league B in 2000. Eleven years later, they made it to the district league A. In 2015 the team was relegated again.

In the 2018/2019 season, an A-Juniors and B-Juniors team will be registered for the first time and the gap to the senior division will be closed. 22 other teams are registered in the game. In 2017, the U8 was one of the first clubs in the Cologne area to host a FUNino tournament
