Alemannia Aachen (full name: Aachener Turn- und Sportverein Alemannia 1900 eV ) is the largest sports club in the city of Aachen . The women's soccer department of Alemannia Aachen has existed since 2009. The first team has been playing in the Regionalliga West since relegation in 2016 .

history

FC Teutonia Weiden

The roots of the department are at FC Teutonia Weiden from Würselen . The association was founded in 1919. Seventy years later, the first women's team rose to the Regionalliga West, which was then the top division. Although the team remained without a win in the season they reached the penultimate place, which meant relegation due to the introduction of the Bundesliga . In the following years Teutonia always fought against relegation. Only the fifth place in the 1991/92 season stood out. In 1994 it went back to the association league, before being promoted again two years later. In 1999 it went down again. After a one-year regional league guest game in the 2002/03 season, Teutonia was only able to establish itself in the now third-class regional league after promotion in 2006.

In the 1993/94 season , Teutonia took part in the DFB Cup for the first and only time . After a walk-through in the first round, the Weiden team met Bundesliga club SSG Bergisch Gladbach in round two and lost just 1: 2. In 2002 the Teutonia player Susanne Kasperczyk took part with the German U-19 national team at the World Cup in Canada , where the DFB selection took third place.

Alemannia Aachen

On July 1, 2009, the women's football department of FC Teutonia Weiden joined the Aachen Alemannia . The aim was to sustainably develop and present good women's football from Aachen. In the very first season, the team of trainer Alexandra Abels won the Middle Rhine Cup with a 2-0 win over Rot-Weiß Merl . Alemannia thus qualified for the 2010/11 DFB Cup , where the Aacheners lost 7-0 to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the first round . Manuel Ortiz-Gonzales took over as coach for the 2010/11 season and led the team to third place in the 2011/12 season . Two years later, Alemannia secured the regional league championship and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga South. With a 3-0 win over 1. FFC Bergisch Gladbach , the team won the Middle Rhine Cup for the second time. In 2016, Alemannia was relegated to the Regionalliga West.
