The 1. FFC Bergisch Gladbach (full name: 1. Women's Football Club Bergisch Gladbach 2009 eV ) is a women's football club from Bergisch Gladbach in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district . The first team rose to the fourth-class Mittelrheinliga in 2014 and qualified for the DFB-Pokal .

history

The club was founded on April 24th, 2009, when the women's soccer department of SV Blau-Weiß Hand split off and founded its own club. In the very first season he was promoted to the Middle Rhine League. Only because of the worse goal difference compared to Rot-Weiß Waldenrath-Straeten , the direct relegation followed. In the Middle Rhine Cup the 1. FFC reached the semi-finals, but failed at VfL Kommern . In 2012 he was promoted to the Middle Rhine League again, which was followed by the state league after a year.

Again in 2014, the direct promotion to the Middle Rhine League was achieved. At the same time, the Bergisch Gladbachers reached the final of the Middle Rhine Cup and were defeated by Alemannia Aachen with 0: 3. Since the Aacheners have already been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga , the 1st FFC Bergisch Gladbach is still qualified for the DFB Cup. In the first round, the team defeated the Saarland league club 1. FC Riegelsberg with 2: 1 and then failed against the second division club 1. FC Köln with 1:11. In 2017, the Gladbach women were runner-up in the Middle Rhine League behind SV Menden . Two years later, the team was relegated to the district league.

In the meantime, SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 agreed to a merger in April 2019 . The general assembly of the 1st FFC commissioned the board to prepare a merger, which should then be voted on later. From the 2020/21 season, the footballers of the 1. FFC should play under the umbrella of SV Bergisch Gladbach 09. At the annual general meeting of the 1st FFC in October 2019, the majority of the members voted against the merger. The 1. FFC will therefore continue to be an independent girls and women football club.

In recent years, the youth teams have achieved a variety of successes in the championships in the field cup and indoor cup. In the 2019/20 season, all youth teams from the B to the E youth became indoor district champions.

The home ground of the 1. FFC Bergisch Gladbach is the BELKAW-Arena . The stadium has a capacity of 10,500 and is also used by SV Bergisch Gladbach .
