The 2009/10 season was the sixth season of the women's regional soccer league as the third highest division. 61 teams played in five groups for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga or against relegation to the Association / Oberliga.
North
Last year's runner-up BV Cloppenburg was champion of the northern group with 13 points ahead of Mellendorfer TV. The relegation places were occupied by TSG Ahlten and SuS Timmel. TSV Eintracht Immenbeck , the third team of Hamburger SV and the second team of FFC Oldesloe 2000 rose from the regional associations .

Northeast
The champions Leipzig FC 07 renounced promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. For this, 1. FC Lübars moves up. 1. FC Gera 03 and 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 were relegated to the association leagues. The second teams of Tennis Borussia Berlin and 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig rose from the association leagues . The league was completed by the relegated second division Blau-Weiß Hohen Neuendorf . Since Leipzig FC 07 withdrew its team, the Regionalliga Nordost played with eleven teams in the 2010/11 season.

Champion was promoted 1. FFC Recklinghausen before fellow promoted Borussia Mönchengladbach. The relegation places were occupied by Fortuna Köln and Rot-Weiß Merl. DJK Fortuna Dilkrath , Bayer 04 Leverkusen's second team and Sportfreunde Siegen rose from the leagues . Second division relegated SG Wattenscheid 09 and TuS Harpen joined VfL Bochum . FC Sankt Augustin remains in the regional league as Rot-Weiß Merl decided not to move up.

1. FFC 08 Niederkirchen became the champion and promoted team. The relegation places were occupied by TuS Ahrbach, FV Dudenhofen, Rot-Weiß Göcklingen and VfR Niederfell. TuS Wörrstadt was relegated from the second Bundesliga . DSG Breitenthal , SV Dörbach and Blau-Weiß Niederlosheim rose from the association leagues . The Regionalliga Südwest played with twelve teams in the 2010/11 season.

Promoted TSG Hoffenheim managed to march straight through to the championship. After the third promotion in a row, the Kraichgauerinnen rose to the 2nd Bundesliga. FFC Wacker Munich and ASV Hagsfeld were relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga . The Karlsruher SC, Eintracht Seekirch and the SC Regensburg had to relegate to the top division. The second team of SC Freiburg , Germania Pfungstadt and ETSV Würzburg rose from the top leagues . Pfungstadt benefited from the waiver of the Hessen champion VfR 07 Limburg . The Regionalliga Süd played with eleven teams in the 2010/11 season.
