Oberliga Nordost 2008/09
Regionalliga 2009/10

The 2009/10 season of the Oberliga Nordost was the 19th season of the Football Oberliga Nordost and the second as the fifth highest division in Germany. The champions of the north and south seasons ( FC Energie Cottbus II and RB Leipzig ) went straight to the regional league .

It was also planned to relegate the last two teams of the two major league seasons to the association or national leagues. The regional league team Tennis Borussia Berlin filed for bankruptcy during the season and was therefore relegated to the league, which is why two relegation games for another relegation place between the two third-bottom of the northern and southern relays ( Lichtenrader BC 25 and 1. FC Gera 03 ) were set. Due to the simultaneous voluntary withdrawal of the reserve team Hansa Rostock in the league, these relegation games were meaningless, so that both third-bottom were relegated.

North season

After the 2008/09 season , the BSV Kickers Emden announced to withdraw from the 3rd division . Since the club also refrained from participating in the regional league , the actual regional league relegated Türkiyemspor Berlin remained in the fourth division. In addition, the table twelfth of the 2008/09 league season , FSV Bentwisch , waived the restart in the league. Due to this situation, the sporty relegated Torgelower SV Greif was able to compete in the league in the 2009/10 season. Relegated FC Energie Cottbus II came from the regional league . Malchower SV 90 , FSV 63 Luckenwalde and Lichtenrader BC 25 qualified for the league from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Berlin leagues .

BFC Dynamo was the autumn champion of the north season with one point ahead of the second Energie Cottbus team and four points ahead of TSG Neustrelitz . On the relegation ranks, Greifswalder SV 04 wintered with only 7 points and Lichterfelder FC Berlin 1892 with 12 points. The Lichtenrader BC 25 was third last after the first half of the season with 14 points.

With two game days before the end of the season, Energie Cottbus II had nine points ahead of the runner-up, BFC Dynamo, and was thus prematurely the champions of the North Season. With this, the club managed to immediately return to the regional league. SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug was the first to be relegated from the Northern Relay one matchday before the end of the season, with seven points behind the third-bottom the club had no way of holding the class. On the last day of the match it was decided that Greifswalder SV 04 would also have to be relegated. Last year's climber Lichtenrader BC 25 was third from bottom and had to play two relegation games to stay in the major league against the third bottom of the southern season, 1. FC Gera 03 . Due to the relegation of two NOFV representatives from the regional league, however, both teams had to relegate regardless of the outcome of this relegation.

Season south

The Northeast German Football Association had accepted an application from the Saxon Football Association after the SSV Markranstädt's division was transferred to the newly founded club RB Leipzig . As a regional league relegated FC Sachsen Leipzig came into the league. VfL Halle rose from the Saxony-Anhalt Association League in 1896 and SV Schott Jena from the Thuringia regional league . In the Saxon state league, the second team of SG Dynamo Dresden was able to secure promotion to the top division.

The RB Leipzig lived up to its role as favorite and was confident with seven points ahead of second-placed league leaders of the Season South. FSV Budissa Bautzen was second in the first half of the season with 31 points, closely followed by the second teams from Dynamo Dresden and Carl Zeiss Jena with 30 points each. On the relegation ranks were SV Schott Jena (7 points) and VfB Pößneck (9 points). The SC Borea Dresden was able to save itself with 10 points at the end of the first half of the season on a relegation place.

Five game days before the end of the season, RB Leipzig had been promoted to the regional league. The club was 19 points ahead of second-placed Budissa Bautzen, and by the end of the season it was able to expand this lead to 22 points. The two relegated teams were determined two game days before the end of the season: VfB Pößneck and SV Schott Jena, each 10 points behind the third-bottom, 1. FC Gera 03 , had no chance of staying up. Gera remained third from bottom at the end of the season and therefore had to be relegated to remain in the major league against third from bottom of the northern season, the Lichtenrader BC 25 . Due to the relegation of two NOFV representatives from the regional league, however, both teams had to relegate regardless of the relegation outcome.

Relegation

Since at the end of the season it was not yet clear whether all athletically qualified clubs would get a league license, and since at least one NOFV club, Tennis Borussia Berlin, was relegated from the regional league, the association decided to play two relegation games ( two -way leg) to stay in the Oberliga between the two third-last of both seasons. Last year’s promoted Lichtenrader BC 25 took part as third from last in the northern season, and 1. FC Gera 03 as third from last in the southern season. The first leg in Berlin ended 1-1 in front of 138 spectators, with both goals scored by penalties. The Thuringians won the second leg in Gera 2-0, with the first goal again being a penalty. Since Hansa Rostock finally withdrew his reserve team from the regional league to the upper league, the two games were meaningless and both teams had to relegate to the state or association league.
