The FSV Bentwisch is a sports club from Bentwisch in the Rostock district . It was founded on December 21, 1966 as a pure football club and today has over 500 members who work in nine branches.

History and club structure

On December 21, 1966, the FSV Bentwisch was founded under the club name SG Bentwisch as a pure football club. During the GDR era, the team played exclusively in the district and district class. In 1990, the club was renamed Football Club (FSV) Bentwisch . With the addition of other sports, the name was changed to the recreational sports club Bentwisch in 2009 , whereby the FSV short name was retained. Today, in addition to the football department, there is also the popular sports department , which consists of eight sections in which active sports can be practiced in the club:

The club uses the sports forum in Bentwisch with two artificial turf pitches, a stadium with natural grass and a sports hall.

Football department

With the championship title in the Association League Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2008 by the first men's team, they played in the then fifth-class Oberliga Nordost in the 2008/09 season . After the season had initially been completed with relegation in 12th place, the FSV withdrew its team from the league due to a lack of financial resources. As a result, almost all the players in the first team left the club, whereupon the second team took their place and started in the seventh-class Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional league (North Season) from the 2009/10 season. In 2012 he returned to the association league. In January 2015, the club had to announce its withdrawal from the association league after many players left. In the 2015/16 season, the new first men's team started in national class IV (8th league), in which the second team was previously active.

Both the A and B youth became national champions in the 2007/08 season.
