The diocese of Malindi ( Latin : Dioecesis Malindiensis ) is a bishopric of the Roman Catholic Church located in Kenya . The seat of the diocese is Malindi , about 100 kilometers north of Mombasa on the coast of the Indian Ocean .

history

The diocese of Malindi was founded on June 2, 2000 by Pope John Paul II as a suffragan diocese of the archdiocese of Mombasa out of territory of the diocese Garissa and the archbishopric Mombasa .
