2. Bundesliga 2009/10

The 3rd league 2009/10 was the second season of the single-track 3rd league . It began on July 25, 2009 and ended on May 8, 2010 with the 38th and final matchday. Two weeks after the 3rd division, the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga started the 2009/10 season.

After the 37th match day, FC Erzgebirge Aue was the first to be promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . On the 38th matchday, VfL Osnabrück became champions as second climbers and thus managed to gain direct promotion. The FC Ingolstadt 04 prevailed as third in the table in the relegation against Hansa Rostock , the third from bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga. In principle, all clubs were eligible for promotion, with the exception of the four second representatives of Bundesliga clubs. The first four of the table were also automatically qualified for the first main round of the 2010/11 DFB Cup .

Already after the 36th match day the three relegated teams to the regional leagues were certain: In addition to the promoted players Borussia Dortmund II and Holstein Kiel , the Wuppertal SV Borussia also had to move into the fourth division.

Scorer with 22 goals for the SV Sandhausen was Régis Dorn . Régis Dorn is the first foreign player to make it in the 3rd division.

    Player of the month

Together with dfb.de , the internet platform fussball.de carried out an election for football player of the month for the first time this season. In the calendar months when the game was in play, the coaches of the 20 participating clubs nominated a total of five players, one of whom was voted player of the month via internet voting. At the end of the season, the monthly winners were then eligible for another internet vote for Player of the Year, with Björn Lindemann , who had previously won three of the eight Player of the Month titles, prevailed.
