Andreas Spann (born May 17, 1984 in Ulm ) is a German football player .

Career

As a youth, Spann first played in his hometown for VfL Ulm and then for the neighboring Bavarian club TSV Holzheim . Ultimately, he moved to SSV Ulm , where he became a junior national player. In 2000 he completed a trial training at Manchester United . After England's hopes were not fulfilled, he moved from SSV Ulm to the youth team of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach . There the striker made it into the German U-19 national team . In the 2002/03 season he was brought into the squad of the Bundesliga team and on April 19, 2003 was used in the game against Energie Cottbus . In the following years he was still nominated as a perspective player for the Bundesliga squad, but he could not get beyond appearances in the top division team. In 2006 he was promoted to the Regionalliga Nord with the second team of Borussia . After he ended the season with only nine substitutions and also crossed the U-23 limit, he returned to his Swabian homeland.

In 2007, Spann joined 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 , with whom he initially played in the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga . There he was regularly used and qualified with the club in 2008 for the new fourth-rate Regionalliga Süd after the league reform , in order to be promoted to the third division a year later . In the professional league he then had his most successful time to date. With 15 goals in 35 games he was the team's most successful goalscorer in the first year of the third division and in the 2010/11 season he was still second in the team with 11 goals. The following year things did not go well: His goals fell short of expectations and he suffered pubic irritation. In December 2011 he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament , which ended the 2011/12 season prematurely for him. In the following season he was completely out of action due to a torn inner ligament and another cruciate ligament tear.

His contract, which expired on June 30, 2013, was not extended, whereupon Spann signed a one-year contract with league competitor VfL Osnabrück on July 14, 2013 , where he was hardly used after a successful start due to a system change. In April 2014 he signed a contract with the Bavarian regional league team FV Illertissen for the 2014/15 season . In the following season he was transferred to the second team and then moved to SSV Ulm 1846 during the winter break in 2016 , where he also competes in the second team .
