↑ 2nd Bundesliga 2010/11 |
The 3rd league 2010/11 was the third season of the single-track 3rd league in German men's football. It began on July 23, 2010 - four weeks before the start of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga season - with the game Kickers Offenbach against 1. FC Saarbrücken (2-0) and ended on May 14, 2011 with the 38th and final matchday . The relegation matches between the sixteenth in the 2nd Bundesliga and the third in the 3rd division took place on May 20 and May 24, 2011.
Hansa Rostock became autumn champions of the league after Kickers Offenbach had been leading the table for almost the entire first half of the season. In the second half of the season, however, Eintracht Braunschweig established themselves at the top of the table and were the first third division team to be promoted to the second division six game days before the end of the season. On the 35th matchday, Hansa Rostock, who had been relegated from the previous year, was also the second direct climber. Dynamo Dresden prevailed as third in the table in the relegation against VfL Osnabrück , the third from bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga, and thus completed the promoted field. In principle, all clubs were eligible for promotion with the exception of the three second representatives of Bundesliga clubs. The top four in the table also automatically qualified for the first main round of the 2011/12 DFB Cup .
In addition to FC Bayern Munich II , Rot Weiss Ahlen was relegated to the regional league after it had been placed at the bottom of the table due to the opening of insolvency proceedings , from which Wacker Burghausen benefited, which, despite being relegated, was able to keep the class. On June 7, 2011 - four and a half weeks after the end of the game - the TuS Koblenz waived their right to start the following third division season due to financial bottlenecks, whereby Werder Bremen II remained third class despite the sporting relegation.
At the end of the season, Domi Kumbela from Eintracht Braunschweig and Patrick Mayer from 1. FC Heidenheim headed the list of goalscorers with 19 goals each.
