geography

Subdivision breakdown

The Falkenberg district includes:

  • the village of Falkenberg,
  • Biesehof , formerly Groß Biesehof and Klein Biesehof , a residential area west of the village,
  • Schallun , formerly Groß Schallun and Klein Schallun , a residential area west of the village,
  • Wipperhof, a residential area bordering the village to the north, formerly called Freilut Schindelhöfe ,
  • the former estate of the Bülows , manor I, later manor 3, about 500 meters east of the church,
  • the former von Meibaumsche Gut , also called Gut Falkenberg or Rittergut II, about 1.3 kilometers southeast of the church,
  • Wischerhof , a residential area 2½ kilometers east of Seehausen (Altmark).

history

The village is first mentioned as Valkenberghe in 1319 , when half of the village came into the possession of the Amelungsborn monastery from the von Quitzow family. Further mentions are 1343 in villa valkinberg , 1541 Falckenberg , 1687 Falckenberge and finally 1804 Falkenberg . There were two knights' seats and two free estates. From 1688 to 1793 the von Bülow owned a knight's seat in the village. This was later sold. From 1848 to 1874 the von Bülow were again owners of an estate in the village.

Agriculture

Many farms and estates often changed hands in the 19th and early 20th centuries, as the management of the land caused great difficulties.

During the land reform in 1945 it was established that six properties over 100 hectares had a total of 996 hectares of agricultural land, 12 properties less than 100 hectares had a total of 333 hectares and two church properties had a total of 56 hectares. A property with 100 hectares belonged to the landscape of the province of Saxony. 7 farms were expropriated: Rittergüter 1 and 3 in Falkenberg, a farm in Falkenberg, the Großer Biesehof estate, the Groß and Klein Schalluhn estate and the Schindelhöfe estate. In 1948, 92 full settlers each over 5 hectares and 22 small settlers each under 5 hectares received from the land reform. In 1952 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG “Weberwiese”, was established. In 1992 the LPG was converted into an "Agrargenossenschaft eG Falkenberg", which was deleted from the cooperative register of the Stendal District Court in 2003.

In 1952, 209 hectares of land reform areas that Neubauer had given up were turned into a university experimental farm of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , which was converted into a teaching and experimental farm in 1956. It was taken over in 1965 by the State Animal Breeding Company Lichterfelde, which was dissolved in 1967 and merged into VEG Falkenberg-Lichterfelde. In 1969 the "Scientific Center for Preparing Improvements" was established, and in 1990 it became the "Scientific Center for Agricultural Structure".

The Falkenberg teaching and experimental property was the first wiped property to reach profitability in 1960. For example, special mop harrows had been developed.

Incorporations

On 25 July 1952, the municipality of Falkenberg was from the district Osterburg in the district Seehausen reclassified. On July 2, 1965, she came to the Osterburg district . On July 1, 1994 it was assigned to what is today the Stendal district .

Until December 31, 2009 Falkenberg was an independent municipality with the residential areas Biesehof and Schallun and belonged to the now dissolved administrative community Seehausen (Altmark) .

The municipal councils of the municipalities of Falkenberg (on January 19, 2009), Lichterfelde (on January 19, 2009), Neukirchen (Altmark) (on January 9, 2009) and Wendemark (on January 16, 2009) decided that their municipalities dissolved and united to a new municipality with the name Altmärkische Wische . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.
