In the administrative community of Seehausen (Altmark) of the Stendal district , 23 communities were united to handle their administrative business. The original 17 communities (Aulosen, Beuster, Falkenberg, Geestgottberg, Gollensdorf, Groß Garz, Krüden, Lichterfelde, Losenrade, Losse, Neukirchen (Altmark), Pollitz, Schönberg, Seehausen (Altmark), Wahrenberg, Wanzer and Wendemark) were joined on 1 January 2005 the communities Boock, Bretsch, Gagel, Heiligenfelde, Kossebau and Lückstedt from the dissolved administrative community Altmärkische Höhe . The administrative community Seehausen (Altmark) was located in the far north of the Stendal district and in the north of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. It bordered Lower Saxony in the northwest , and the Elbe formed the border with Brandenburg . The VG had a share in the table-level Wische and in the Altmärker Höhe , a low ridge that separates the catchment areas of the Jeetze and Biese / Aland rivers .

On January 1, 2010, the administrative community was dissolved. The area became part of the new, initially seven municipalities, newly formed Verbandsgemeinde Seehausen (Altmark) .

In the administrative community Seehausen (Altmark) lived 12,044 inhabitants (June 30, 2006) on an area of ​​437.56 km². The last administrative manager was Reinhard Schwarz.
