Losenrade is a district of the Hanseatic town of Seehausen (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt

geography

The Altmark street village Losenrade is located on the Elbe in the extreme north of the district or the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve . The Brandenburg town of Wittenberge is on the opposite, northern side of the Elbe .

Neighboring places are Eickerhöfe in the northwest, Steinfelde in the southeast, Hohe Geest in the south and Geestgottberg in the southwest.

history

Losenrade was created during the time of colonization by the Margrave of Altmark Albrecht the Bear and was first mentioned in 1259 as Losenrodte in connection with a donation from the noble Johann Gans to the Stepenitz - Marienfließ monastery. The historian Peter P. Rohrlach gives the first mention in Losenrodhe in 1275. In 1305 Otto Gans von Putlitz awarded the help of the village genandt Losenrode to Johann von Karstedt .

In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg of 1375 the village is listed as Losenrode in the Prignitz territory. Further mentions are 1608 Noch Losenrahde and 1687 Losenrade . In 1804 there were 3 whole farmers, 2 half farmers, 6 whole and 4 half kossaers, 1 Büdner and 9 residents lived in the village and estate Losenrade . There was a pitcher .

As early as 1842 there was a row school teacher in the village . Later a school was built, which in 1961 had an upper level for the 5th to 8th grade in addition to the primary school for the 1st to 4th grade. The school closed decades ago.

The community used to include the Geestermühle residential area (there was a windmill to the east) and the Elbbrücke residential area in the Eickerhöfe district with a restaurant and excursion bar "Zur Elbbrücke" located directly on the road across the Elbe.

Origin of the place name

The name is derived from the Slavic (Wendish) "los, loassa" for forest and the German ending "rode".

Incorporations

In 1881 the rural community Steinfelde was incorporated. On October 17, 1928 the manor district Eickerhöfe was united with the rural community Losenrade, whereby the enclave of the manor district was combined with the rural community Geestgottberg.
