Yard to the hooves

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hof zur Hufe is a residential area in the Schönberg district of the Hanseatic town of Seehausen (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Hof zur Hufe is the west-north-westernmost farm in Klein Holzhausen . It is located 3 kilometers northeast of Seehausen (Altmark) on Landwerdergraben (the former Landwehrgraben).

history

In 1513 the property was sold to Hans Siemendorf by the Barsewisch family. In 1938 it was reported that the estate had been owned by the Falcke family for 375 years. In 1576, the Ackerhof Hove was mentioned in the personal asset letter for Balzer Barsewisch's wife. It reports on uplifts from a farm in Ostorf and on Peter Falke's service and leaseholds from the Hope to Huffen . The historian Lieselott Enders points out that Wilhelm Zahn, in his desert history, confused the village of Hof zur Hufe (Höwe), which is also called Spiegel's Hufe , south of Bohemia , with the farm in Klein Holzhausen.

In 1935 the farm belonged to Otto Falcke.

Until 1940 the farm belonged to the Hufe to the municipality of Ostorf. He went under the name "Hof Falcke" together with the Herper and Neubauer farms in the southern part of Ostorf to the Klein Holzhausen district of the Herzfelde community, which was established on April 1, 1940. Herzfelde was incorporated into Schönberg on July 1, 1950 .

present

The farm is a listed building. After the fall of the Wall , parts of the courtyard were restored and the pigeon tower in the middle of the courtyard is once again an eye-catcher after passing through the courtyard gate.

Trivia

In 2008 Paul Koch retells a story from the 17th century under the title “An old dyke history”. The area was badly devastated during the Thirty Years' War . The unmarried Johann Joachim Falke had to leave his inherited "Hof zur Hufe" because he could no longer bear the dyke loads . On Wednesday after Walpurgis 1631, a dike show was held nearby by the governor of the Altmark together with the deputies of the council from Werben (Elbe) . They met a strange man on the dike. He made himself known as the previous owner of the farm, but nobody knew him. He couldn't legitimize himself. Then he said that when he left the house and the yard, he had hidden his Bible and the house key in a raven's nest on the large oak tree of the yard. You rode to the yard, climbed the tree and the nest was still on it. It was examined. Down in the nest, surrounded by sticks and moss, were house keys and the parchment-bound Bible with “the name of the returned home” in it. Falke got his paternal inheritance back and founded a household.
