Herzfelde is a residential area in the Schönberg district of the Hanseatic city of Seehausen (Altmark) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The scattered settlement Herzfelde is located 4 kilometers east of Seehausen on the Herzfelder Graben in the northwest of the Altmark . The Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve begins north of the village .

Neighboring towns are Klein Holzhausen in the north, Schönberg am Deich in the northeast, Neukirchen (Altmark) and Schönberg in the southeast, and Blockhof , Wischehof and Neuhof in the west.

history

In 1280 a Johanne de Hertzvelde is mentioned in a document in Berlin. The historian Peter P. Rohrlach says: It remains uncertain whether the… witness is actually connected with this heart field .

The first mention of the place comes from the year 1323 as in hertzuelde in nostra terra Sehusensi . Further mentions are 1472 to Hirsfeld , 1499 to Hersfelde , 1541 Herzfeld , 1551 Herzfelde and 1687 Hertzfelde . In 1804 it is called Hertzfelde , village, two estates, 4 whole farmers, a Halbkossät, 2 Büdner, 11 residents and a windmill, located at the north-western entrance to the village.

In 1931 the district of Herzfelde included the Blockhof , Perditzenberg and Ziegelei residential areas .

prehistory

Near Herzfelde on the site of a gravel pit, a burial ground from the earlier Iron Age was uncovered in the 20th century .

Incorporations

Before 1895, the Herzfelde manor district was merged with the Herzfelde rural community.

On April 1, 1940, the communities of Herzfelde and Klein Holzhausen merged without their districts of Oberkamps and Unterkamps up to and including the irrigation with the Rühstedter Wiesen and the districts of Groß Wegenitz and Klein Wegenitz (they came to Beuster ) and the southern part of the municipality of Ostorf , the courtyards Falke ( Hof zur Hufe ), Herper and Neubauer as well as from the communities Falkenberg and Schönberg the enclaves directly on the Elbe to a community with the name Herzfelde. At that time all communities were in the Osterburg district .

On July 1, 1950, the Herzfelde community was incorporated into the Schönberg community . So Herzfelde came to Schönberg as a district. In 1973, Herzfelde was still designated as a district of Schönberg, but no longer in 1986, there was only the Herzfelde residential area. Since the incorporation of the community of Schönberg into the Hanseatic city of Seehausen (Altmark) on September 1, 2010, the Herzfelde residential area has belonged to the Schönberg district, as have the Blockhof and Perditzenberg residential areas.
