history

Gollensdorf was created as a Rundling by the Wends , which is still clearly recognizable today. It was first mentioned in a document as Goldistorp on July 11, 1319, when Margrave Woldemar in Tangermünde transferred properties to Aulosen with accessories to the Amelungsborn monastery . Further mentions are 1541 Goldensdorff , 1687 Goldenstorff and 1804 Gollensdorf and Goldenstorf .

Gollensdorf was the location of a border company of the border regiment 24 Fritz Heckert Salzwedel in the border area of the GDR.

On July 1, 1949, Arthur Japin was killed through negligent handling of a firearm by his guard.

Agriculture

During the land reform in 1945, the following were determined: 21 properties under 100 hectares have 577 hectares, one municipal ownership has 5.2 hectares. Three farms, 2 farms and a farm with a total of 331.9 hectares were expropriated. In 1948, 18 full settlers each received more than 5 hectares and 6 small settlers each less than 5 hectares from the land reform. In 1952 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG “Des Friedens”, was established. In 1991 the LPG went into liquidation, which ended in 2007.

Origin of the place name

The name could be of German origin and come from the name Gollo, Golli or from gold to a pagan shrine or a sacrificial site. Where gold from Old High German was valid , could mean as much as to be strong .

prehistory

A prehistoric urn found in 1950 suggests a settlement history of over a thousand years.

The councils of the communities of Gollensdorf (on January 27, 2009) and Groß Garz (on January 19, 2009) decided through a territorial change agreement that their communities should be dissolved and merged into a new community called Zehrental .
