Harpe belongs to the village of Leppin and is a district of the unified municipality of Arendsee (Altmark) in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Harpe, a village with a church, located six kilometers northeast of Arendsee (Altmark). To the west is the Harper Forest, cultivated with pines. The Harpe moat flows to the south and west of the street village . In the southeast of the village is a 26 meter high elevation called the Black Mountain.

history

A sign on Harper Church reads that the place was first mentioned in 1319. An appropriate document from the year 1319 could be the Margrave Woldemar when he said Amelungsborn possessions to Aulosen propriation and the associated locations.

A mention of Harpe as Herpe comes from the year 1488, when Alverich and Werner von Bodendyk sold various lifts to the Diesdorf monastery .

In 1551 the monastery Arendsee and that of Jagow from Aulosen compare across the border between Ziemendorf and Harpe.

At the beginning of the 20th century there was a windmill on the Black Mountain on the right of the way to Zehren .

In Harpe there was a stop on the Salzwedel – Wittenberge railway line, which was closed in 2004 . Today there are holiday apartments in the station building.

Incorporations

On 25 July 1952, the municipality Harpe was from the district Osterburg in the district Seehausen reclassified. On July 2, 1965, it was reclassified to the Osterburg district . On January 1, 1969, the municipality was incorporated into the municipality of Leppin.

After the incorporation of the municipality of Leppin into the city of Arendsee (Altmark) on January 1, 2010, the district of Harpe became a district of the city of Arendsee (Altmark) and became part of the newly formed village of Leppin.

The Protestant parish of Harpe belonged partially to the parish of Groß Garz from 1768 onwards and completely from 1785 onwards. Before that it belonged to the parish of Bohemia.

Today, the church belongs to the parish of newcomers in the parish area Arendsee the church district Stendal in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Culture and sights

  • Around 1852 the brick church Harpe was built using foundation and base parts from an older structure. It is a branch church of the church of Groß Garz.
  • There are several memorials to those who died in the First World War in the village.
