Molitz is a district of the village of Fleetmark and the town of Arendsee (Altmark) in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The Altmark church village of Molitz is located about 18 kilometers southeast of the district town of Salzwedel.
history
The village of Molitz was first mentioned as Molyz in 1324 , when Hans and Heinecke von Kröcher sold Kalbe Castle and the associated villages to Albrecht von Alvensleben . Other documented names are Molwitz in 1375 and Molitze in 1458. The village of Molitz is mentioned as early as 1570, later also Mohlitz .
The place was originally a horseshoe-shaped Wendish settlement.
In the 19th century there was a water mill south of the village. On the left of the road to Ladekath there was a windmill in the 20th century .
Incorporations
On December 4, 1952, the municipality of Molitz was reclassified from the district of Kalbe (Milde) to the district of Salzwedel .
On August 1, 1973, the municipality of Molitz was incorporated into Fleetmark. On January 1, 2011, Fleetmark was incorporated into Arendsee (Altmark). Molitz came on the same day as a district to the new village of Fleetmark and to the city of Arendsee (Altmark).

Culture and sights
The field stone church Molitz is a building from the 13th century. In the church there is a memorial plaque for those who fell in the First World War. The church is a branch church of Plathe.
