Kerkuhn is a district of the unified municipality of the city ​​of Arendsee (Altmark) and the village of Sanne-Kerkuhn in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Kerkuhn, a village with a church, located seven kilometers southwest of Arendsee (Altmark). To the south of the village, the Sanne-Kerkuhn drainage ditch flows over the Rademiner Fleetgraben into the Flötgraben.

history

Kerkuhn was first mentioned in a document on March 29, 1338 as Kerkun when Busso von Wallstawe left pensions from Kerkuhn and Wallstawe to the St. Georg monastery near Salzwedel.

In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Kerkune . It belonged to the Salzwedel provost's office. In 1536 the cathedral chapter in Kölln an der Spree exchanged its possessions in Kerkun for those of von der Schulenburg .

In the east of the village at the fork in the road to Thielbeer and Heiligenfelde stood a windmill.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Kerkuhn from the district of Osterburg was incorporated into the municipality of Sanne.

The municipality of Sanne was renamed Sanne-Kerkuhn on August 1, 1990.

With the incorporation of the municipality of Sanne-Kehrkuhn (the original municipality of Sanne) on January 1, 2010, the district of Kerkuhn became part of the town of Arendsee (Altmark) and the newly formed village of Sanne-Kerkuhn.

Culture and sights

Only the tower of the first stone church Kerkuhn from the 12th century is left. The reconstruction in the neo-Gothic style took place in the 19th century. The church is a branch church of the church in Sanne.
