Maritta Kersting

Maritta Kersting (born May 17, 1935 in Düsseldorf ; † May 12, 2009 in Ratingen ) was a German lutenist and guitarist .

Life

Kersting studied singing with Emmy Müller and lute with Walter Gerwig at the Cologne University of Music and guitar with Karl Scheit in Vienna. Then she gave concerts with the Studio for Early Music. In 1969 she became a lecturer at the Düsseldorf Conservatory . In 1973 she was appointed professor for guitar. Reinbert Evers and Dieter Kreidler were among her students . In 1993 she received the certificate of honor from the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia. She was also the editor of the baroque works of Johann Sebastian Bach and John Dowland for Guitar & Lute and Edition Nogatz.
