The Altmärkische Höhe administrative association was formed on April 1, 1993. As part of a municipal reform, the municipalities agreed to dissolve the administrative community on December 31, 2004. With effect from January 1, 2005, the municipalities of Ballerstedt, Flessau, Gladigau and Rossau joined the Osterburg administrative community, while the communities of Boock, Bretsch, Gagel, Heiligenfelde , Kossebau and Lückstedt were incorporated into the Seehausen (Altmark) administrative community .
