The districts of the municipality are located southwest of the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde in Seehausen (Altmark) in the Altmark in the north of Saxony-Anhalt.

The community was created on January 1, 2010 through the merger of the formerly independent communities Boock, Bretsch , Gagel, Heiligenfelde , Kossebau , Losse and Lückstedt.

Origin of the community name

It was named after the Altmärkische Höhe , a low mountain range that separates the catchment areas of the Jeetze and Biese / Aland rivers .

Religions

The 2011 census in the European Union showed that of the 2024 inhabitants of the Altmärkische Höhe community, around 46% belonged to the Protestant and around 2% to the Catholic Church.

In the municipal council elections on May 26, 2019 , the Altmärkische Höhe community of voters was able to win all 12 seats. Two of the councilors are women. A single applicant received too few votes for a seat. Parties did not run for election.
