Aland is a municipality in the Seehausen (Altmark) community in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The municipality is located in the far north of Saxony-Anhalt and its seat in Krüden is five kilometers northwest of the seat of the association in the Hanseatic city of Seehausen (Altmark) . In the north, the municipality borders the Elbe and the state border with Brandenburg with the towns of Jagel , Cumlosen and Wittenberge beyond . In the east, Geestgottberg , Beuster and the Hanseatic city of Seehausen, in the south Lindenberg , Jeggel , Groß Garz , Deutsch , Drösede and Bömenzien are the neighboring towns. In the west the area borders on Schnackenburg in Lower Saxony .

history
On January 1, 2010, the new community of Aland was formed from the formerly independent communities of Aulosen, Krüden, Pollitz and Wanzer. It was named after the Aland , a tributary of the Elbe . On September 1, 2010, the municipality of Wahrenberg was incorporated into Aland.

Three of the 12 councilors are women.
Attractions
The village of Stresow, which was razed in the GDR times, lies between Aulosen and the Lower Saxony border . A border memorial is located here today.
Religions
The 2011 census in the European Union showed that of the 1,553 inhabitants of the municipality of Aland, around 29% belonged to the Protestant and around 3% to the Catholic Church.
