In 1208 a Fredericus de Hasele was named as a witness in a certificate issued in Sandau. The municipality regards this as the first documentary mention of the place. For the 800th anniversary in 2008, Hassel was given its own coat of arms. In 1285 the place is mentioned as in Hasele . Further mentions are 1411 by deme dorpe tho hassele , 1687 Hassell and 1804 Dorf Hassel .

During the land reform in 1945, the following were determined: 37 properties under 100 hectares had a total of 1,011 hectares, a church property had 11 hectares. In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Red Banner", was established.

Origin of the place name

The place name Hassel is derived from hazel, which refers to the hazelnut.

prehistory

The large stone grave in Hassel was destroyed as early as the 18th or 19th century. In the 20th century medical and cosmetic equipment was found on an imperial settlement near Hassel.

Incorporations

Wischer came as a district to the municipality when on September 30, 1928 the manor district Domain Bürs was dissolved, whereby the main estate Bürs was combined with the rural community Bürs and the ancillary estate (Vorwerk) Wischer with the rural community Hassel.

The municipal councils of the municipalities of Hassel (on January 29, 2009) and Sanne (on January 27, 2009) decided by means of a territorial change agreement that their municipalities should be dissolved and merged into a new municipality called Hassel. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on July 1, 2009.

coat of arms

The coat of arms, which was approved by the district on June 26, 2007, was designed by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .

Blazon : " Slanted left split silver over blue and covered with an oblique left, eightfold red-silver split bar, above a leafy green hazel branch with blossoms and nuts, below four silver wavy lines."

The main town Hassel is represented in the coat of arms by the hazel branch with characteristic flowers and fruits (both must be represented in order to distinguish it symbolically, e.g. from hops).

It is known from the Chausseehaus Hassel district that a turnpike stood there in 1857. It was a Chausseegeld -Hebestelle for users of the road to Arneburg. Due to this fact, the district is represented in the coat of arms by the red and silver bar.

The district of Wischer was first mentioned as a settlement in 1345. In the middle of the 15th century the place became deserted and was extinct in 1506. In the 19th century there was a new settlement. An important branch of the economy was the sand pit with the gravel works, from which a lake was created. This is used intensively for local recreation. Wiper is therefore symbolized by the tincture blue (water) with wavy silver lines.

flag

The flag is striped red and white (1: 1) (landscape format: stripes running horizontally, lengthways: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.

  • The evangelical village church in Hassel is a two-part boulder building . It was consecrated in 1230 by Bishop Wilhelm von Havelberg . The oldest piece of equipment is the bell from 1230. The large pulpit altar is from 1748 and the west gallery from 1660.
  • The local cemetery is located in the churchyard. It is surrounded by a stone wall that was removed in 1986 and rebuilt a meter back.
  • On the outer wall of the church in Hassel is a memorial for those who died in the First World War with an additional memorial plaque for the victims of the Second World War.
