The Verbandsgemeinde Arneburg-Goldbeck is a community association of several independent communities in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

The Verbandsgemeinde came into being on January 1st, 2010. Since Verbandsgemeinde are allowed to have a maximum of eight member communities with 1000 inhabitants each (figures from December 31st, 2008), the following changes took place on the same day:

Merger of the municipalities of Hanseatic City of Werben (Elbe) (789 inhabitants) and Behrendorf (477 inhabitants) to form the municipality of Hanseatic City of Werben (Elbe) (1266 inhabitants)
Merger of the municipalities of Baben (187 inhabitants), Eichstedt (Altmark) (432 inhabitants) and Lindtorf (394 inhabitants) to form the municipality of Eichstedt (Altmark) (1013 inhabitants)

On September 1, 2010, the community of Schwarzholz (238 inhabitants), which had previously only been co-administered by the Verbandsgemeinde, but did not belong to it, was incorporated into the community of Hohenberg-Krusemark .

On January 1, 2011, the independent municipality of Klein Schwechten , which was co-administered by the association municipality, was incorporated into the municipality of Rochau .

geography

The Verbandsgemeinde Arneburg-Goldbeck is located in the central area of the Stendal district and extends from the central Uchtetal to the border with Brandenburg in the north. The area of the Verbandsgemeinde includes part of the north-eastern Altmark and the southern and eastern parts of the Wische . The Elbe forms the natural eastern border of the Verbandsgemeinde.

Association municipal council

The municipal council election on May 26, 2019 resulted in the following distribution of the seats in the municipal council (in brackets, seats after the 2013 election):

Two of the 20 community councilors are women.

The turnout was 57.9%.

Religions

The 2011 census in the European Union showed that around 26% of the 9,649 inhabitants of the Verbandsgemeinde belonged to the Protestant and around 3% to the Catholic Church.
