geography

Gethlingen, a small Altmark street village with church, located about 5 kilometers northwest of Hohenberg-Krusemark and 10 kilometers southeast of Osterburg (Altmark) on Balsam ditch. To the north of the village, Balsamgraben and Hufergraben merge to form the Cositte .

history

The village of Gethlingen was first mentioned as ville Getling in 1254 , when the Margraves Johannes and Otto von Brandenburg exchanged part of the village Scudicz (probably today's Schkeuditz ) with the provost Albert of Magdeburg. Thus, the village came from the Archbishopric of Magdeburg into the sovereignty of the Mark Brandenburg . In 1334 it was called in villa dicta Getlingen . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Gottinge and Gethlinghe . Other mentions are 1422 to Ghetlynghe , 1542 Getling and 1687 Geitling . In 1804 Gethlingen was a village with two estates.

During the land reform in 1945, the following were determined: two properties over 100 hectares had a total of 327 hectares, three properties less than 100 hectares had a total of 81 hectares. The two manors with a total of 328.2 hectares of land were expropriated. In 1948, 36 full settlers each over 5 hectares and 4 small settlers each under 5 hectares of land were able to acquire from the land reform. In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Freiheit", was established.

Incorporations

On September 30, 1928, the manor district Gethlingen I and Gethlingen II were united with the rural community of Gethlingen. On 25 July 1952, the municipality Gethlingen was from the district Osterburg in the district Osterburg reclassified. On January 1, 1973 Gethlingen was incorporated into the municipality of Hindenburg . With the incorporation of Hindenburg into Hohenberg-Krusemark on December 31, 2008, the district of Gethlingen also became part of the new municipality of Hohenberg-Krusemark, which was created one day later, on January 1, 2009 when it was merged with Altenzaun.
